Dan Morris

Called "one of the future darlings of the US prog scene," Dan Morris has burst onto the scene with his unique style of dark, sexy progressive house and deep trance. As a DJ, he weaves a flawless sonic landscape replete with dark tribal funk and mind-tripping sounds. As a producer, Dan's distinctive "tribal with a twist" style has quickly amassed him a sizeable international following.

Hard at work in his studio with production partner Ron Levy "Shylock," Dan has signed original tracks with several international labels, including Silver Pearl Records (US), Mechanism Records (UK), and Fade Records (US). These tracks are being caned by all the big jocks, including Sasha & Digweed, Deep Dish, Pappa, Tenaglia, Steve Lawler, Hernan Cattaneo, Sander Kleinenberg, and Chris Fortier. His tracks are regularly featured on Digweed's Kiss100 radio show.

Dan's first release "Cherokee" (Mechanism, UK) turned heads, launching the production duo onto the international scene. His following track "Lean" (Silver Pearl, US) hit the top ten on the Balance Promote Group chart, and both Steve Lawler and Danny Tenaglia called it "huge."

Dan's most recent release, "Bahdatu" (Fade Records), climbed to #2 on the Balance Chart. An earlier hit "Gasp" (Fade, US) has been critically acclaimed and is featured on Chris Fortier's Bedrock 3 CD. Respected UK mag Jockey Slut calls the track a "highlight" on the Bedrock CD, and Progressive Sounds says the track has been "causing a stir." Xpander.nl writes, "(the original mix) ...grooves like a proverbial beast constantly throwing up inventive twists and deep sounds."

Another recent project, a remix of Phasebase "I'm Reachin" (Zone, UK), has received rave reviews. Tim Harley of Zone Recordings says, "Remix duties from Dan Morris and Shylock will not disappoint...these exciting producers are becoming hotly tipped as the future darlings of the US prog scene." Offitsface.com says of the remix, "this is definitely one that you know will work..." And Xpander.nl writes, "This track will undoubtedly be hammered by some of the most influential progressive DJs around planet earth."

Top American dance mag Urb called Dan's mixing "inspired," adding "Morris has beat-mixing skills in spades." He is currently a resident DJ for WishFM's Rockstar Promotions in the 2002 Olympic host city of Salt Lake City, Utah. He has performed in top lineups that have included Paul Oakenfold, Deep Dish, Jimmy Van M, Chris Fortier, Paul Van Dyk, DFUSE, and Taylor. His DJ mix sets are regularly featured on international web sites, including Release Records and Proton Radio.

Dan has also begun to make forays into more mainstream music, collaborating with WishFM to produce a cover of Missing Person's "Walking in LA" for Traci Llords. Their track along with the sleek video was recently shown on CNN's Larry King Live during an interview with Llords. Her new full length cd will feature covers and original tracks from Tommy Sunshine, Dan and WishFM.
